Jane Yolen, the author of more than 300 books for children, will be the first guest in the English department’s 2013 Children’s Literature Series. Yolen, who has been called the "American Hans Christian Andersen," has published picture books, young adult and middle grade novels, short stories, poetry, folklore, fantasy, and science fiction, among other genres. Her books include Owl Moon (winner of the Caldecott medal), The Devil’s Arithmetic, and How Does a Dinosaur Say Goodnight?
Yolen's talk, which is free and open to the MHC community, will be followed by questions and refreshments. A display of her books may be viewed in the atrium of the library.
