Best-selling novelist and professor of history, Deborah Harkness ’86, reads from "The Book of Life," the final book in her All Souls trilogy.

The series began with "A Discovery of Witches" and continued with "Shadow of Night." The trilogy relates the saga of a historian of alchemy (and descendent of witches) Diana Bishop, and a geneticist (and vampire), Matthew Clairmont.

After traveling through time in "Shadow of Night," Bishop and Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from "A Discovery of Witches"—with one significant exception. In the trilogy’s final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. The event begins at 7 pm, followed by a Q&A and book signing. This is a ticketed event and tickets must be prepaid. To purchase tickets please call the Odyssey at (413) 534-7307..Each ticket costs $5 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Mount Holyoke Club of the Pioneer Valley.
